Work Experience
At Carshalton High School for Girls, every Sixth Form student is encouraged to find a placement to benefit from experience in the wider working world.
The aims of work experience include:
- To enable students to deepen their understanding of the curriculum related concepts and apply skills learned in the classroom.
- To explore an area of work which is of interest and may be relevant to the student’s choice of career.
- To gain evidence of competency in key skills to enhance CV or Personal statement for University
If students are unsure of what they want to do, a careers matching quiz is available on the Prospects website:
An employer without employers’ liability insurance is not a suitable placement and will not be allowed.
Several other schools and boroughs have work experience at the same time, so we encourage the students to be proactive to secure a placement as early as possible in the process.
Once students have secured work a experience placement they should ask the employer to complete the Company and Job Information including risk assessment document (downloadable below) and upload all the information via Veryan. Students are issued with their own Pin numbers to log on.
