Sociology Year 9
GCSE Sociology
In Year 9 students learn about society and what it means to live in a society; have rules and laws in order for society to stay functional. The students are encouraged to share and debate their ideas as well as work independently on written pieces such as research projects. They will study the following topics:
- What is society?
- Gender Socialisation
- Sociological theory
- Families and Households
- Sociological research methods
How is the course structured?
Students follow the AQA syllabus at both GCSE and A Level. There are two exams for GCSE, Paper 1 and Paper 2, which are taken at the end of Year 11.
What do students study?
At GCSE level the course covers a range of topics such as: family, education, society, crime and deviance, power, media and sociological methods.
