Scholarships
At Carshalton High School for Girls we offer Sport Scholarship and Music Scholarship Programmes.
Students are able to apply to the school and be selected based on their sporting aptitude and their musical aptitude.
Scholarship students will take priority over some other admissions criteria as these applications will be considered under Priority 3.
A maximum of the equivalent of 10% of our admissions number per year group will be designated for Music or Sport scholarships which qualify for entry to the school.
Once at the school students will access a bespoke programme of support and development that will stretch and challenge them. More details on each scholarship can be found in the links below.

All students will be invited to attend an assessment early in the autumn term. The assessment will give them the opportunity to demonstrate their potential and aptitude in either music or sport.
If a girl is accepted onto the scholarship list, Carshalton High School for Girls must be named as a preference on the Common Application Form.
The dates for the sport and music aptitude assessments for entry in September 2025 are as follows:
Sport - Saturday 12 October 2024
Music - Wednesday 16 October 2024
Assessment Procedure for Sports Scholarship
Assessment activities are organised by the PE department and overseen by staff from the senior leadership team.
Assessment lasts for approximately 1 hour during which time each student will work alongside other applicants on a variety of skill and fitness related tasks.
Assessment Procedure for Music Scholarship
Assessment activities are organised by the Music department and overseen by staff from the senior leadership team and an independent assessor.
Audition:
- Two performances on their chosen instrument(s) and/or vocal (no more than 5 minutes per piece).
- Musical aptitude test (clapping rhythms and singing back simple melodies).
- Short discussion about their musical experiences so far.
Please note there is no minimum grade required for application. The music department will be looking for musical potential and skill. Applications are welcomed from students performing in any musical tradition or style.
Applicants may perform unaccompanied or with a backing track (on a computer or phone). An accompanist will not be required. Applicants will be given time and space to warm-up before their audition.
